Game notes. Though our activities are designed to require a minimum of adults' time, we do provide background
material for when children are curious to hear more. You can find scientific details and some game-related jokes
under the "Educational Game Notes" section of this web page.
Group play. We strongly encourage groups of kids playing together. We know that children of a broad range
of ages can enjoy computer games simultaneously, with the younger children typically learning as spectators. We
do not label games as to age group, because we know that older children often enjoy simpler games and that younger
children like the idea of playing anything they want.
Computer time for girls. Research studies show that boys and girls approach computer activities in different ways, and that boys tend to dominate the time on a shared computer. We therefore encourage parents to find opportunities to allow the girls to play in their own style. We do provide some activities specifically meant to appeal to girls; however, we prefer not to explicitly mention those activities and thereby possibly suggest stereotypes.
