Helping families surf safely on the Internet

Content Guidelines

We believe that to communicate most effectively, our computer activities must be rambunctious and non-saccharine. For example, kids know all about cussing and what it is used for. Rather than ignore this fact of life, we think it would occasionally be healthier, and humorous, to indicate cussing by using the funny symbols on the top row of the keyboard. We feel confident that kids would understand why real words are not used and that those words are not for children. At the same time, we will avoid needlessly over-sanitizing our content.

We will make every effort to avoid modeling dangerous, anti-social or self-destructive behavior, unless we can show consequences or make the cartoon aspect unmistakable. Still, we cannot anticipate every possibility or standard of judgment. Therefore, the ultimate judge of suitability -- and the person ultimately responsible -- must of course be the adult who controls the computer where the kids are playing.

We do not plan to feature advertising on the kids pages, beyond perhaps a brief banner showing only a game sponsor's name and a logo.
